Important Notice - Legislative Committee Meeting PDF Print E-mail
SCCOA - Important Notice

IMPORTANT NOTICE

To:  All Correction Officers

From:  Vito Dagnello, President

Date: January 8, 2009

========================================================

First the association wants to thank you for sticking together.  As you know we stood together, over 250+ strong, at the opening session of the 2009 organizational legislative meeting.

By standing together we have sent a very strong and clear message to the County:  the system of negotiation is broken.  The message we’ve sent is that we are not going to be silent any more.  The feedback I have gotten from the legislature and County Officials is that they cannot believe that after 7 years without a raise and 6 years without a contract we continue to be unified and show no signs of fragmentation.

Presiding Officer Lindsey is setting up the committee schedules for the 2009 legislative year.    Over the next few weeks I will be calling upon you again to stand with me, in full force, at the legislature.  We will continue to make ourselves heard.  We will address the issues, according to the specific committees we are meeting before.  The purpose of this is to keep pressure on the County to expedite the process to get us up to date on wages, benefits and our contract.

We have worked within the system and the system has failed. The legislature has offered to assist us in correcting the problems.

 We will not stay silent anymore!
